WoW Classic guides

For WoW Classic Era — the permanent vanilla realm set, running patch 1.12. Everything below is read out of that patch's own world database and the Classic Era client's files: 12 profession guides, 9 class guides, 1,423 item pages, 7,856 pieces of equipment and 4,433 quests.

Classic Era is one of several versions that call themselves WoW Classic, and the numbers do not carry between them. These pages are 1.12 and say so; Hardcore and Season of Discovery change the rules, and WoW Forever rebuilds the talent trees outright.

WoW Classic profession leveling guides, 1 to 300

143 steps and 246 trainers across the . A step names the skill it carries you from and to, the recipes that get you there and what they cost — added up from the recipes, so correcting one corrects every guide that uses it. Tick a step off and the next opens; the trainer visits sit in the list where you actually have to make them.

All side by side, if you have not picked one yet — or every trainer in the game by zone, if you know the profession and need the NPC.

WoW Classic class guides

What each class is, which races can roll it, what armour it wears and when that changes, and the two professions that pay off for it. The races come from the 1.12 character-creation table rather than from memory.

Druid Healer/Tank/Melee DPS · Hunter Ranged DPS · Mage Ranged DPS · Paladin Healer/Support · Priest Healer/Ranged DPS · Rogue Melee DPS · Shaman Healer/Support/Melee DPS · Warlock Ranged DPS/Support · Warrior Tank/Melee DPS

Tools for a character

Three things you do to a character rather than read about it. Each keeps its state in the address bar, so a build is shared by copying the link — no account, nothing stored.

The item database

1,423 crafting materials and recipes, each with what it takes, what it makes, and where it comes from — which creature drops it and how often, which vendor sells it, which zone it grows in, or the gear band it disenchants out of. Grouped by profession on the index.

Game basics

The five things Classic expects you to know and never explains. Every one is answered from the 1.12 tables rather than from a sentence somebody remembered.

Step-through guides

A route through the world rather than through a skill: go here, do this, move on when you hit a level or the item drops. One guide so far, written by readers and published once an editor has read them — and you can write one.

Other versions of WoW

This site does not cover them, and one of them is easy to mistake for this one. World of Warcraft: Forever launches 4 November 2026 with the vanilla world and the level-60 cap, but with the talent trees rebuilt — so the talent, spell and gear numbers here do not apply to it. The pages under it read the beta client's own tables and set each change against this site's Classic Era data, one page per class and one per profession.

Where the numbers come from

The 1.12 world database, the Classic Era client's own files, and nothing copied from another guide site. How this site is built states each source, the three arithmetic rules that make these figures differ from a naive read of the same tables, and what is deliberately missing.

FAQ

  • Which professions can I level to 300 in WoW Classic Era?

All undefined this site covers: Blacksmithing, Engineering, Enchanting, Tailoring, Leatherworking, Alchemy, Cooking, Herbalism, Mining, Skinning, First Aid, Fishing. Each guide is a route of skill bands — 143 steps between them — with 246 trainers for both factions, whose coordinates are converted from the 1.12 spawn table rather than copied from a wiki.

  • Is Classic Era the same as Hardcore, Season of Discovery or WoW Forever?

No. Classic Era is the permanent vanilla realm set, running the 1.12 patch, and it is the only version this site covers. Hardcore and Season of Discovery change the rules and the abilities; World of Warcraft: Forever rebuilds the talent trees entirely. A spell coefficient, a talent or a zone coordinate from here does not transfer to any of them.

  • Where do the numbers on these pages come from?

The 1.12 world database and the Classic Era client's own files — 1,423 crafting materials and recipes, 7,856 pieces of equipment, 4,433 quests, and every trainer position checked against the spawn table. Nothing here is copied from another guide site, and the provenance page says what is deliberately missing.

  • Do I need an account to use the guides?

No. Progress through a profession route or a step-through guide is kept in your browser, and only mirrors to a profile if you choose to sign in. The talent, gear and rotation tools keep their state in the address bar, so a build is shared by copying the link.
