WoW Classic Rogue Guide
Pure damage, stealth, and the only class that decides when a fight starts.
- RoleMelee DPS
- ArmorLeather
- ResourceEnergy
- FactionAlliance & Horde
Rogues do one thing and do it better than anyone: hit a target in melee until it dies. There is no healing, no tanking, no support — which means the class lives or dies by whether its damage is worth the raid slot, and in Classic it is.
Stealth changes what the class is for outside a raid. A rogue chooses its fights, walks past what it does not want, opens every lockbox and picks every locked chest in the game. In world PvP that first hit from stealth decides most duels before the other player has done anything.
Energy makes the class feel different from every other melee: it regenerates at a fixed rate whether the fight is going well or not, so a rogue is never starved and never flooded — the skill is in spending it.
Talent trees
A Rogue spends 51 talent points by level 60 across three trees. Open any of them in the calculator, build what you want, and share the link.
Where to train a Rogue in Classic
Every rogue trainer in Classic, by zone. Coordinates come from the 1.12 game data, not from a present-day map: Cataclysm redrew several of these zones, and a modern percentage points at ground the Classic map does not contain.

Strengths and weaknesses
What it is good at
- Top-tier raid damage
- Stealth: pick your fights, skip the rest
- Lockpicking, and the strongest opener in PvP
What it struggles with
- No healing, no tanking, no group utility
- Leather armour punishes mistakes
- Nothing to do when the target is out of reach
