WoW Classic Paladin Guide

Alliance only. Brings blessings nobody else has, and heals whether it wanted to or not.

A Classic paladin is a healer wearing plate. Retribution and Protection both exist in the talent trees and both work well enough to level with, but raids ask paladins to heal, and the class is built so that healing is what it is best at — a huge mana pool, plate armour, and the only resurrection that works in combat.

What makes a paladin wanted is the blessings. Kings, Salvation, Might and Wisdom go on other people, and a raid without enough paladins simply has less of them to hand out. That, plus auras and the ability to remove magic effects, is the class contribution — much of a paladin's value in Classic is spent on other players.

It is also the safest class to level. Almost nothing kills a paladin: heal, shield, and keep going. Slow, but it never has to stop.

Talent trees

A Paladin spends 51 talent points by level 60 across three trees. Open any of them in the calculator, build what you want, and share the link.

Where to train a Paladin in Classic

Every paladin trainer in Classic, by zone. Coordinates come from the 1.12 game data, not from a present-day map: Cataclysm redrew several of these zones, and a modern percentage points at ground the Classic map does not contain.

Race is not cosmetic in Classic — racials like Will of the Forsaken, Stoneform and Fear Ward change how the class plays, particularly in PvP.

Strengths and weaknesses

What it is good at

  • Blessings and auras the raid cannot get elsewhere
  • Combat resurrection

What it struggles with

  • Alliance only
  • Damage is low, and raids will ask you to heal
  • Killing things takes a long time
